(A brave Duelist enters a spooky cemetery at midnight on Halloween…)

“Day of the Dead comes early this year in Maze of Muertos, as we meet up with Duelist Kingdom’s ghoulish graveyard ghost: Bonz!”
That’s what the message said. And it said to come here to find early packs of this set!
Wait…what’s that sound? SMASH

(An enormous one-eyed Jack-o-Lantern bursts through the ground! Pumpking RISES – FROM THE GRAVE!)

Oh, wow, it’s Pumpking the King of Ghosts! In the…flesh? What are you doing here? This is kind of like the place you battled Red-Eyes Black Dragon, all those years ago. You’re the original Halloween Horrorshow!

(Pumpking glares with his giant-sized eye. Clearly not a happy pumpkin.)

Yeah that was a long time ago, and you haven’t had a power upgrade since. Now you’re probably thinking, “I’m mad, and I’m not gonna take it anymore!” Hey, wait a second! This new Maze of Muertos set might have something for you. Let’s look around and see what we can find.

(Pumpking tilts his big pumpkin head forward. Was that a nod? It must have been.)

Here’s a Field Spell Card right here. It looks like that cave with all the skulls, in Duelist Kingdom. This Field Spell lets you Set any of your Call of the Haunteds from your Deck or Graveyard. So you can get all 3 at once!

AND it powers them up, too, so Call of the Haunted sends an opponent’s monster to the Graveyard, on top of Summoning a monster from yours! How’s that sound?

(Pumpking’s head tilts to the side. We seem to have his interest, but he clearly wants more.)

What’s this, here? Ectoplasmic Fortification? You used this in that cave Duel, too! It powers up your Zombie monsters’ Attack Points!

(Pumpking taps a vine on the ground, impatiently.)

Okay, I’ll keep reading. Hmm… AND it draws a card for every Call of the Haunted you control. That’s new!

(Pumpking points at… a brick?)

What if we draw it the first turn? Don’t worry, it says you can also use this same card to get the Field Spell out of your Deck.

(Now Pumpking’s pointing at himself.)

Hey, you’re right! You can get the Field Spell, OR a Level 6 Zombie, like yourself. And it bumps up Zombies’ Attack Points, and draws a card for every Call of the Haunted you control. That seems like a lot. It’s good to be the King!

(Pumpking proudly adjusts his crown.)

Let’s keep looking. Here’s another Monster Card. It’s…you! It’s a Pumpking upgrade, a new Level 6 monster. You can reveal it and discard a card, to Set Call of the Haunted from your Deck, and then you can activate that Call of the Haunted that same turn. And when the new you is Special Summoned, it Summons another Level 6 Zombie from the Deck. Okay, I see where this is going. You reveal and discard new Pumpking to Set Call of the Haunted, then activate Call of the Haunted right away to Special Summon Pumpking back, and then Pumpking Special Summons another Level 6 Zombie from the Deck. Boom! Two Level 6’s on the field. A great first-turn card you could even Xyz Summon right away.

(Pumpking ponders, then starts flailing its vines around itself. Like they were… orbiting?)

You want me to look for an Xyz Monster? Good idea. Let’s see…oh here’s one! It kind of looks like you, but bigger and with more eyes.

(Pumpking seems ESPECIALLY pleased at that.)

This Xyz Monster protects all Zombies from being targeted with effects. And when it’s Xyz Summoned, it adds Call of the Haunted – or anything that mentions it – from your Deck to your hand. Like Man with the Mark from Maze of the Master!

(Pumpking tilts his head down again. As if saying to keep reading.)

…AND you can detach 1 material to return 2 cards anywhere on the field back to the hand.

(Seemingly satisfied, Pumpking turns away and starts doing something in the dirt. He’s certainly less threatening but…wait…is he drawing something?)

Hey, those are Joey’s monsters! But now they’re Zombies. What are they doing on Team Pumpking?

(Pumpking stares impatiently and points behind a tombstone.)

Did you see this Legion-of-the-Not-So-Living around here? Oh, here it is! A Rank 7 Xyz Monster that you can Rank-Up into. It can attach an opponent’s monster to itself from their field or Graveyard, as material.

(Pumpking continues to stare.)

…as a QUICK EFFECT!

(There we go. Pumpking gives as much of a thumbs-up as a pumpkin can give with its vines. It really IS good to be the King.)

Well, everyone, you heard the pumpkin! Er…PumpKING. Maze of Muertos is the latest anime-inspired booster for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME. Featuring dozens of new cards, including many based on cards from the anime and manga. From Darkuriboh, Dark Magician of Destruction, and Timaeus the United Magical Dragon, to Illusion Gate, Chronicle Sorceress, and Uzuhime the Manifested Mikanko, you’ll find something of interest in the wide range of new cards found in this set.

Maze of Muertos also revives some old favorites and popular recent cards as an extra treat! And we might have more treats to announce in the days ahead, so stay tuned.

And of course, a new and revamped collection of Zombies, Spells, and Traps, like new versions of Pumpking, Ectoplasmic Fortification, and Deadly Zombie Breath, bringing the fan-favorite Deck of Bonz to the modern age. (Although Pumpking seems to have stolen the show, here.)

Each Maze of Muertos booster pack contains 7 cards: • 1 Foil card per pack • 6 Rare cards per pack

Great book but the pages started falling out
Format: Paperback
This book is very informative and helpful while I navigate nursing school, but after only 6 weeks of use the pages started falling out. I'm careful with the book and I don't even open it everyday but it was poorly made and the pages are not very sturdy.

A Deep and Rich Resource on Christian Life
Format: Paperback
I've been waiting for this book for quite some time when I heard it would be coming out as part of the Dogmatics series. I really appreciate how he structures the book as God's Trinitarian actions towards us, the law-gospel distinction, and our response to Gods' love. Rich. A real treat to read, ponder, and reflect on.

One of the Best!
Format: Paperback
Kelly Kapic is one of the best theological writers of our day. He gears his writings a bit toward scholars, but don’t let that stop you. Accept the challenge of this book and you won’t be sorry. The title of the series (“New Studies in Dogmatics”) might scare off some readers, but don’t allow that to camouflage a great read. Yes, scholars will likely eat it up as a book that shows an artisan at work in their trade, but I say pastors and thoughtful Bible students ought to claim this one as their own. The only part that might appeal more to scholars than the rest of us is how he loves to delve into some historical personage or creed to illustrate his point. That is only an issue because sometimes that takes more explanation than the point at large he is making. I doubt he can help it. He seems like a walking encyclopedia; a passionate one to be sure, but it is amazing the scope at which he views his subject. His clearly stated thesis is that “Christian life is a response to the love of God”. Not only does that make sense, especially as he develops it, but it also gave him free reign to write across most of the systematic theology corpus as he desired. That could easily degenerate in a muddled mess that said little, but in his skilled hands it became something really special. In fact, the first chapter on why we need a theology of Christian life shows his clear vision of the argument of this book. For the record, I was bought in part way through that first chapter. Part Two with its three chapters fills in “the love of God” part of his thesis. He approaches it as love, grace and fellowship. Those three are often thrown about with a perverse shallowness. Not here. It seems that the depths of the heinousness of sin that he so astutely explains is the key to bringing those three out in all their resplendent glory. Here they sparkle. Next, he has a section that he called an “interlude” on the Law-Gospel distinction. His Reformed orientation comes out strongest here and this section is likely to be the most controversial. In fact, even some Reformed thinkers might quibble with him. From there, he develops the “response to” part of his thesis. This last section covers Messiah, ego and ecclesia to great effect. That our Messiah is the key is painted with the right significance. The chapter on ego was profoundly done. I thought he brought in current thinking on ego and held it up to Scripture and came up with clear thinking in the process. The two chapters on ecclesia surprised me. I was sure that he was going to champion a certain strain of liturgy, but actually he explained that every worship style is a liturgy. It was convincing to me. I nominate this book as the theological title of the year. It is that good. I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

A labor of love
Format: Paperback
Kelly Kapic provides a biblical and theological vision of Christian life—what it means to love and be loved by God—by exploring and explaining the contours of the “life” that is given to the believer as united to Christ, and united to all believers who participate in that same union. The book covers multiple topics one might find in a systematic theology, but seamlessly weaves these through considerations of Christian ethics and corporate worship with clear and accessible prose. Kapic writes charitably as someone deeply immersed in the history of Christian theology and aware of the modern Christian church as expressed through multiple, and sometimes conflicting, traditions. Kapic remains attentive to the doubts of believers and profoundly sympathetic to the reality of those who have suffered abuse under the banner of grace. A remarkable achievement of beautiful orthodox theology. Highly recommended.
