Wilderness canvas wall tents are the same tent models we also sell sell as glamping tents, hot tents and winter tents. Our wilderness tent is very high quality and the most reinforced canvas wall tent available. That is why we use it on all canvas tent models.

THE 10 X 12 FIRE TREATED TENT WITH FRONT SCREEN DOOR HAS THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS TO OUR STANDARD WILDERNESS TENTS.

Photos of modifications are at top of page in photo section of our standard wilderness tents. Modification photos are at the end.

STANDARD FEATURES

5 FOOT SIDE WALLS. WALLS ARE FULL 5' OF CANVAS.

Walls are measured from the outside of tent.

  • FREE STORM FLAP. Protects zipper and closes door if you have zipper problems when camping.

  • FREE BACK WINDOW OR BACK DOOR. A $50 option for some tent companies.

  • FREE REINFORCED EAVE WITH WEBBING ENTIRE LENGTH OF EAVE.

  • FREE D RINGS SEWN INTO EAVE WEBBING. Much stronger than grommets pressed into canvas.

  • FREE DOUBLE LAYER OF CANVAS ON RIDGE. A major wear point that is reinforced.

  • FRONT ZIPPERED DOOR, YKK #10. Always insure your tent has YKK zippers or you might have zipper problems when you are camping.

  •  STOVE JACK. 5 1/2". Can be cut to 6"

  • VINYL SOD CLOTH. Acts an air seal and prevents canvas from touching any rain water which will wick up the canvas wall.

  • TENT BAG. Oversized to insure your tent fits in it.

  • RIDGE OPENINGS FOR LODGE POLE. Some hunters use lodge pole pine to make a tent frame when packing in to avoid hauling a heavy metal frame on horses.

  • 200' OF ROPE AND 20 TENSIONERS that tightens the tent eave rope connecting to tent stakes.

WILDERNESS CANVAS IS ARMY DUCK- DOUBLE FILL. The highest quality canvas made. Canvas is made by weaving threads together, crosswise and lengthwise. The Army Duck canvas has 2 threads twisted together making 1 thread. These double twisted threads are woven into the canvas going both crosswise and lengthwise. Twisting 2 threads together into 1 makes Army Duck canvas stronger more durable and also allows the canvas to breath better.  A 10.1 oz Army Duck wall tents are just as strong as a 12 oz Dual Fill.

Click ANGLE KITS for information on how to easily build a tent frame from steel conduit.

PURCHASING TENT FRAME ANGLE KITS and then purchasing 1” inside diameter, galvanized steel electrical conduit at any hardware store is the most economical approach to purchasing a frame.  Normal savings $150-$250 depending on the size of canvas tent and frame.

Angles that accommodate 3/4" steel conduit are not recommended.  3/4" conduit weighs about half as much as 1" conduit.  Consequently, it is only about half as strong as 1" conduit and can't take much of a snow load.

6'  SIDE WALL OPTION

6' side walls provide much more headroom and usable tent space.  6' walls allows a person to get next to a wall without hitting your head against rafters or canvas roof.

Some companies only have 4' 7" sidewalls which severely restricts how much space you can actually use.

Strongly recommend you ask your suppliers the finished height of side walls before purchasing so you will not be surprised or disappointed upon delivery.

6 Foot option only available on FIRE, water and mildew treated tents

TENT FRAME ANGLE KITS DO NOT INCLUDE FRAME POLES.

CUT LIST FOR CUTTING STEEL CONDUIT FOR  FRAME WILL BE PROVIDED.

ANGLE KIT UPGRADE RECOMMENDATIONS

12 x14.  4 Rafter angle kit vs standard 3 rafter.  RIDGE SUPPORT.  When you use a 3 rafter angle kit there will only be 1 rafter in the middle of the frame supporting the entire roof.  A 4 rafter angle kit has 2 rafters evenly spaced in the middle of the frame supporting the roof.  You get twice the roof support with a 4 rafter angle kit frame.  A much better system especially for snow loads.

16 x 20.  5  Rafter angle kit vs standard 4 rafter.  CONDUIT UTILIZATION and RIDGE SUPPORT. The 4 rafter or 5 rafter angle kit both require the same amount of conduit, 21 pieces. A 4 rafter angle kit on a 16 x 20 requires 9 cuts of 6' 6" for the ridge and 2 eaves frame poles. Requiring 9 pieces of 10' conduit.   A 5 rafter angle kit has 12 cuts at 5' for the ridge and eaves requiring only 6 pieces of conduit. A much better system especially for snow loads.

16 x 24.  6  Rafter angle kit vs 5 rafter. CONDUIT UTILIZATION and RIDGE SUPPORT.  A 5 rafter angle kit requires 26 pieces of conduit while the 6 rafter only requires 25. A 5 rafter angle kit on a 16 x 24 requires 12  pieces of conduit for 6' cuts.  A 6 rafter requires 6 pieces of conduit with 4' 10" cuts.   A much better system especially for snow loads.

 STOVE SIZE UPGRADE RECOMMENDATIONS

12 x14 or 14x16. If you ever anticipate being in very cold conditions a Wilderness 5 or Yukon 5 is recommended.  Wilderness 5 is 30% larger than a Wilderness 4.

Deluxe stove package is an available upgrade option which includes a water tank and grate. Click wilderness stove and yukon stove for detailed description.

Some other companies offer in their 12 x 14 packages a small stove that is not large enough to adequately heat a 12 x 14 tent.   We offer a medium size stove that will easily heat a 12 x 14 or 14 x 16.

FIRE RESISTANT CANVAS: Meets CPAI 84 fire retardant code. If a tent is not specifically treated for fire resistance it will burn quickly. Fire Resistant canvas will only burn when there is a flame source present on the canvas. When you remove the flame source the wall tent will stop burning. However, there is no wall tent made that will not burn.

  DISCOUNTED ACCESSORY PRICES

There are discounted prices on the following accessories when ordered with a Wilderness Hunting Tent as I am passing on my reduced shipping costs to you.

5" Inline spark arrestor $50 (-$22), stove fire mat $35 (-$15), stove heat shield $35 (-$15), rubber caps for frame legs (-$10 per set ), tent frame bags $28 (-$10), tent coat hangars $35 (-$10), and rebar stakes (-$10) per dozen.

RECOMMENDATION:  ALWAYS KEEP YOUR TENT ROOF AND FLY TAUT SO WATER CAN QUICKLY BE REMOVED FROM YOUR TENT.  Water can collect on the roof in an "eave trough" which is  a low area just before the sidewall created by a not tight roof or loose fly.

Canvas should be very taut on a tent frame, especially, if set up for extended periods of time and a fly always used.  Fly should also be tight to avoid water in an eave trough.  Water will eventually go through the fly if saturated for weeks.  Canvas saturated in water will rot and mildew regardless of water mildew protection applied. There is no warranty for eave rot.

FLY IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

If you are on a limited budget and cannot purchase both a fly and floor I recommend the fly be purchased first.  The fly will protect your roof the day the tent is set up so you don't have to be concerned about stove sparks burning holes in the roof.

There are thousands of needle holes in your tent and occasionally a needle hole does not close when the tent is wetted down. The only way to insure your tent does not leak is to put a fly on your tent.

Click SLEEPING CAPACITY for each size of tent. It is sometimes difficult to determine the correct size required and hopefully sleeping capacity info page will be of some assistance.

STATES THAT REQUIRE FIRE TREATED TENTS: CA, LA, MI, MA, MN, NJ and NY.

Recommend you read TENT SET UP LOCATIONS before you set up your tent to avoid wind issues that can destroy your tent.

 OPTIONS AVAILABLE

Options include porch, cook shack, floor, extended fly/tarp. Click accessories to view all accessories available.

FLY included in package is a special made tarp that protects your tent roof and has opening that matches your tent opening. 200 feet of rope and rope tensioners included.

FLOOR can be substituted for fly in the package. Floor is an 18 oz vinyl and is only available in the stake in model. Floor is also available for purchase if you want both the fly and floor. If you are on a limited budget and can afford only either the fly or floor, I recommend the fly. The fly is more important because it protects the tent from stove sparks, adds another moisture barrier, keeps the canvas roof clean, and protects the roof from UV rays. You can buy the floor later. If you buy the fly later, you will probably already have a damaged or degraded roof.

8' EXTENDED FLY (8" longer) fly is an upgrade option if you want a covered area in front of your tent. 200 feet of rope and rope tensioners included.

TENTS ON PLATFORMS

I strongly recommend you read my recommendations regarding placing wall tents on a platform, click platforms.

I strongly recommend (click) tent frame leg supports on platforms which are screwed onto the platform. Wood platforms are smooth surfaces compared to the ground. You don't want to have tent frame legs slide off a platform during high winds. Rich.

Leaving a tent set up for extended periods of time. Water can collect on the roof in an "eave trough".  The trough is the area at the bottom of roof just before the side horizontal tent frame poles. Canvas should be very tight on frame if set up for extended periods of time and a fly used.  Fly should also be tight to avoid water and snow in an eave trough.  Canvas saturated in water will rot and mildew regardless of water mildew protection applied. There is no warranty for eave rot.

 TESTIMONIALS

We erected our glamping tent as per your instructions and placed it on an elevated platform. A few months ago hurricane Irma came smashing through south Florida leaving an unimaginable path of destruction in its wake.  We are located about 60 miles north of the eye of the storm at Fort Meyers.  While we didn't get hammered we did get nailed.  Wind gusts over 100 mph and a foot of nonstop sideways torrential rain.  Huge 150 year old trees toppled left and right. A huge one crashed onto the roof of my house.  After the storm passed the water kept rising for the next two days.  Finally on day three and wearing chest waders I got to assess the certain destruction and start the inevitable clean up. The flood water had gotten to within 3" of the tent platform.  As I pushed through the floating debris and waded in I could tell the fly was intact!  As I got closer, I could see the tent also appeared intact!  Surely there had to be a rip or tear somewhere.  But there was none.  I climbed the stairs and unbuckled the flaps to see that not a drop of water made it inside.  Not a single thread out of place.  It was just as I left it. I couldn't believe it.  Best regards, Joe.

Just wanted to tell you guys what an awesome tent.  My wife and I really love it.  I bought a tent from another well known company and it was crap. Seams sewn crooked, stove jack sewn crooked and needle holes where sewing was not on the seam. A waste of money buying a poor quality tent. Sold it and took a loss. My wife found you online.  Ordered a 12 x 14 last week and received it in less than a week.  What great fast and free shipping, phenomenal service.  Set it up in my yard before departing on trip, then put it my trailer and off we went. The craftsmanship is great and the reinforcement points are in the right areas. I am very impressed.  Arrived at night and set it up with a flashlight.  I brought so many friends in to show how good your tent is. Friends couldn't believe the quality, workmanship, price and the free shipping. None of them had ever heard of the Wall Ten Shop. Well they know now! Thanks again for a great tent, Jones.

Wilderness is absolutely awesome. Thoroughly inspected it and there are no issues. I know my camping friends are going to be totally impressed. Thanks again. Jerry

Perfect For Game Developers w/ Some Experience Wishing To Learn Unreal Fast
Format: Kindle
Rachel Cordone’s Unreal Engine 4 Game Development Quick Start Guide is the perfect book for people with some programming chops, or users of other engines (like Unity), that want to get up to speed quickly with Unreal. I really liked how the author does not waste time explaining basic things (like what functions or variables are) and jumps to the practical steps for getting things working. Unreal experience is not required at all, though you should have some foundation of how programming works to get the most out of the text. Most of the book is using Blueprints, the built-in visual scripting language of UE4. I’m a huge fan of Blueprints, and visual scripting in general, and you can accomplish many things, even a whole game, without touching C++. However, Rachel does show how to use C++ and interface with Blueprints code (very handy). Within the book, the author explains each step along the way to accomplish various things, along with screenshots of the Blueprints, making everything easy to follow. Some of the topics covered include: the basics of navigating the editor, using variables, functions, events, and creating a Blueprint from scratch. Adding C++ to a Blueprint project. Creating menus and HUDs with UMG, animation, scripting AI, multiplayer, and optimization. Definitely not an exhaustive list, but a good range of information to get a feel for how powerful Unreal is and how to quickly start working with it. So far, I’ve only read maybe a couple other Unreal books, but I think I can say this is the best I’ve seen. While some other books are longer and more in depth, as this one only clocks in at just under 200 pages, I feel like the brevity helps keep things focused. While you’re not creating Grand Theft Auto here, the simple demo built in the book is functional and teaches the basics of how you would make a game in Unreal. This is a case where the title of the book is very apt and honest. This is a “quick start” guide for game developers not familiar with Unreal Engine 4, but maybe that have experience with Unity or some other engine or framework. I think if you are a complete beginner, you might want to read up on basic programming concepts first, though the book is simple enough you could probably just jump in if you really wanted. For people with experience elsewhere, this is perfect to get up to speed with Unreal fast. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Bugs Within Code
Format: Paperback
The blueprint code where we change the material of the character skeletal mesh has a serious game breaking bug. When the player picks up just ONE of the spheres, the game exits after three seconds despite the fact that there are still two remaining. I followed the code to the letter, even going out of my way to using the exact same engine version as in the book. There are no hints nor tips within the book that offers solutions should any problems arise. Therefore, one would expect the code to be flawless and bug free. At this point, one would be better off seeking free tutorials from elsewhere. The book does not go in depth with anything considered 'advanced' (interactive doors). Very disappointing considering how much one pays for the book.

A Must Have For The Beginner
Format: Kindle
So I've had an the opportunity to spend time with this book and I have to say that I'm very satisfied. Normally when you're reading tech books that claim to be for beginners they assume that you know things and skips steps, but this book doesn't do that. I went from being super intimidated about programming and back end development, but this book eases your mind and makes you feel like you can do anything. And after reading it you start looking at programming in a completely different way. Pros: * Easy to comprehend * Well laid out * The tone of the author is very pleasant and not boring at all * Encourages you to experiment with what you've learned and encourages you to go out explore even further * He makes you feel smart * He makes you feel like you actually have a shot at being a paid developer Cons: * There were a few typos and some missing syntax in a few of the coding examples, but even with that being the case this book is still awesome Once I land a gig here in the next three months it'll be thanks to this book and this amazing author. Thanks =)
