The substrate should feel soft and slightly springy, not gritty and loose like cactus soil. Perlite or similar light structure helps prevent the fine fraction from collapsing around roots.
Size selection
Prayer plants react badly to both drying hard and staying wet without oxygen. Choose a pot close to the root ball and adjust watering to current growth and room conditions.
How to get started
This mix is built around structure first. Use it as a complete potting mix, or blend it into a base soil to adjust airflow and drying speed.
