THE ONLY AUTHENTIC AND AUTHORIZED REISSUE OF THE RUSH PEPBOX FUZZ...
From John Lennon, to Pete Townshend, to Jake E. Lee... so many legendary guitarists have owned the Rush Pepbox fuzz pedal from Rush Amps at some point in their time. And now, the only authentic and authorized Rush Pepbox fuzz has been reissued for all to enjoy!
The Rush Pepbox fuzz is one of the first wave of guitar effects pedals with the new “Fuzz” sound at the time. It was designed and built in London in 1965 by the creator Pepe Rush, owner of this registered and trademarked “Rush Pepbox”. The Rush Pepbox fuzz retains all of its authenticity, right down to its only power source being a 9 volt battery, just like the original. It was used by a number of leading groups in the 60s, including The Beatles (who used it at Abbey Road, during the recording of Revolver), The Shadows, The Animals, and many others.
NO IMITATIONS...
The Rush Pepbox fuzz pedal from Rush Amps in London, comes with a Certificate of Authenticity in the box. It is built on a copy of the original printed circuit board, using rare NOS (new old stock) germanium transistors, some of which are over 40 years old, to capture the unique, original sound. Rush Pepbox is housed in a faithful recreation of the original wedge-shaped, welded steel enclosure, with hand engraved panels. Using a 9v battery only, Rush Amps has gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure that this reissue is as close to the original as possible today.
Unfortunately, the creator of the Rush Pepbox, Pepe Rush, passed away in late 2018, but his daughter Lucy Rush is carrying on building the Pepbox. Lucy had been working with her father for a number of years on the Pepbox, and wanted to carry on with the work they did together, to keep his legacy alive.
THE "RUSH PEPBOX", BY PEPE RUSH...
"The idea for the design came to me when I was working in my factory in Soho, London building Bass and Public Address equipment for some of the biggest groups in the middle 60’s. In about 1965 a guitarIst from one of the big groups came in and said he had heard an American Recording with a distorted sounding guitar and it sounded great."
"I thought about it and a couple of days later came up with the design for what was to become the RUSH PEPBOX. I built a prototype using germanium transistors and tried it through one of the amps we were building and it sounded distorted, just what I had been working so hard to design out of our amplifiers. I sold quite a few. The Beatles, The Shadows and various other big groups of the time had them and they were used on a number of recordings. There is a picture of John Lennon with one at Abby Road Studios."

FEATURES:
- Rare NOS (new old stock) germanium transistors, preserving the original Pepbox sound
- Sound output cord is built into the pedal, and it's powered by one 9 volt battery only (included), just like the original features
- Welded steel enclosure
- All analog and true bypass
- 4.5 ft. built-in output cord
- Exact look, sound, and feel of the original Pepbox
CONTROLS:
Pep: Controls the amount of fuzz in your mix.
Level: Controls the output volume of the pedal, but also changes the overall sound, EQ, compression, etc. of the sound, with very slight turns of the knob. TESTIMONIALS:
“Like so many guitar players, I have tried different fuzz pedals and been left wanting more. The Rush Pepbox is the one that gives me the fuzz tones I was looking for over many years. This is not a clone or copy – it is an original circuit made with the right few parts that gives it both predictability and unpredictability. I can always find a nuance that I wasn’t expecting. This is not tame and refined. It is also not shrill or too messy. It is a growling fuzz that is very useful, a ton of fun, and one that I have only found in the Rush Pepbox made by the original family.”
Jeff Phelps, New York
“Now… about this pedal. I’m plugging a Custom Shop ’56 Stratocaster into the pedal and the pedal into a Hiwatt Custom 50 clone with a 4×12 WEM style cabinet (a la David Gilmour). I’m no slouch when it comes to British fuzz boxes, and this little guy is a gated, velcro ripping sound of lucious distortion. I love it. It has its own style, and I love that there’s history coming out of my amp with the fuzz. The insides look as great as the outside, and that attention to detail is what tops it all off. I hope you’re proud of this pedal because you certainly should be.“
Parker Denny, Indiana
“I vouch 100% for this – killer fuzz and Lucy is on her way to being a fuzz goddess in such a male dominated industry – that totally rocks!"
Macari's Ltd. - the famous London guitar and fuzz store since 1958
“I first heard of the PEP Box some years ago and wanted to try the sound for myself. This release of the PEP Box maintains the same looks as it did when it was first issued during the 1960s which is important to me. The pedal is of a solid metal construction and hard wearing and feels very good quality. The dials also have a good quality feel to them and in all, it’s very well put together.“
M.T., Essex UK
"This fuzz is absolutely amazing. The tones you can squeeze out of it are holy grail-like. Love the old-school style box and how the cord is attached too. Blown away by this and don't know if I can play guitar without it now!"
Nathan, New York
