Developing products that sound great is all about having a "musical ear." Yes, it may seem strange to talk about musicality when talking about musical instruments, but it's a fact. The ear and what our English-speaking friends call sound design are essential to achieving quality. Well, that's what Jesse Davey has: an excellent ear for tweaking existing equipment and making it into something that you, dear guitarist friends, must have! This is the case with this Blues Power Deluxe, which stands out as an excellent overdrive pedal, with great flexibility.

Finish-wise, it's pretty. It meets the high-end boutique standards of the genre. High-quality CNC-made casing, impressively firm knobs, a thick PCB with a very well-executed assembly. What more could a guitar player ask for? Nothing more, it's all there! It's top-quality and will last for years without flinching.
So, what do we see on this pedal? Of course, the Dumble-style knobs that control Gain, Volume, and the EQ section with Bass and Treble. Classic. And also a 3-position toggle switch: Warm (standard, neutral), Glass (high end and brightness emphasized), and Edge (even more presence). Use this little switch in parallel with the EQ and you have maximum versatility to tune your sound however you like.
This Deluxe version offers us new options, namely a second toggle switch that allows us to change the voicing of the pedal (Blues, Original, King). The Blues mode offers a reinforced low-mids, the Original mode favors transparency, the King mode boosts the low and high end of the spectrum with reinforced headroom. We also benefit from the addition of a boost channel that adds an additional gain stage.

To our ears, the Blues Power Deluxe is a pedal that excels regardless of the pickup configuration used. So we chose a superstrat and a nice clean base. At random, a Two-Rock Studio Classic Reverb, just to be on the safe side.
The Blues Power Deluxe is a low-gain overdrive, with little gain in reserve. It basically matches what you'd get with an old Blackface cranked up to the max, all with a very wide frequency spectrum. Two possible uses: the first on a clean channel, the second as a boost on a crunch channel or on a fuzz or other OD pedal.
What's really impressive about this highly modified Blues Driver is its uncompressed and open character. It's a light OD that breathes, with a lot of softness and transparency. Where many pedals of the same type compress and bring a "pinched" side, the Blues Power Deluxe plays the ultimate transparency and we really keep the clean sound underneath intact. The pedal stacks like a layer on your clean channel and reacts instantly when you modulate its attack. The switches are masterful: they allow you to modify the voicing in depth and adapt the response to the guitar used.

This Blues Power Deluxe therefore works extremely well on a clean channel, but it also performs wonderfully when layered over a drive/crunch. Its extreme transparency allows it to add thickness without crushing or over-compressing the drive on which it is layered. At the top! Especially on an amp channel that severely distorts!

The King Tone Guitar Blues Power Deluxe is a pedal designed for those who play... with their fingertips! Those who manage their gain and dynamics with the volume knob, at the attack, and who work their sound by adding different textures and gain stages. A very "mellow" pedal that will work wonders used on a quality clean channel. One of our favorites!
