Dramatic, architectural, and easygoing—Epiphyllum ‘Red Tip’ is a jungle cactus with thick, flattened stems that trail beautifully and blush red at the edges in bright light. With the right care, it can reward you with large, orchid-like blooms that feel almost too good to be true.

Plant Care
Light: Bright indirect light is best. Can tolerate some morning or late afternoon sun, especially to deepen the red tips—but avoid harsh midday rays.

Watering: Water when the top 3–4 cm of soil feel dry. These epiphytes like moisture but hate sitting in soggy soil. Ease off in winter.

Temperature: Thrives in 18–26°C. Avoid temperatures below 12°C. Keep away from cold draughts and sudden shifts.

Potting: These plants like a chunky mix, similar to their natural habitat. Our Super Chonk is a great choice for this species.

Hot tips: These cacti can bloom in late spring to summer if they get enough light and a cool rest period in winter. To encourage flowering, reduce watering and give it a cooler, drier spot (around 12–15°C) over winter.

Pet Friendly: YES

Not made for Golden Retrievers.
Nope. Did not last an hour with our Golden Retrievers. We bought these for Christmas hoping to entertain our 2 and 4 year old Goldens while cleaning their teeth. Within an hour they were destroyed.

Dental health
Not a convenient place to place a treat. Then my dog picked not chewed much. Sturdy. Great for a hard chewer.

Poor durability
My 15lb dog destroyed this within a couple hours. He is small but a might chewer. Not chew proof. The end pieces came off easily which could be a choking hazard. He loved it, the idea is good, but it did not last. If you get it, supervise your dog, only allow for short "teeth brushing" chew time.
