Homalomena rubescens ‘maggy’ is an unusual, eye-catching plant that will create a tropical jungle look in your home.

It hails from the warm, humid rainforests of Southern Asia and is part of the Aroid family. It’s a close relative of philodendrons, which means Homelomena is an easy-care houseplant that shares the same care requirements. These plants enjoy indirect light and moderate humidity; well suited to a home environment (but keep away from heaters!). If the plant is placed somewhere too bright, the leaves can get scorched. Keep soil moist using water at room temperature, but don’t allow the plant to sit in water.

The glossy foliage is elevated by deep red stems and this upright growth habit makes the Homelomena ‘maggy’ a great table top plant in tighter spaces. You can enjoy cleaner air too; as these large heart-shaped leaves also have excellent air-purification properties, as discovered in the NASA clean air study.

Maggy will look great as a statement houseplant in your living space or bedroom, whether styled in a corner, on a table, or in a planter. It also enjoys the increased humidity of a bathroom environment, which encourages the growth of lovely big leaves. This plant is a steady grower and doesn’t require frequent repotting, which makes for effortless ownership!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Follow these instructions to keep your Homalomena Maggy healthy and happy:

Water: Do not under-water or over-water. It's best to water when the top 50% of the soil has dried out. Never water with cold water either, use room temperature water.
Light: Bright indirect light but can handle some levels of medium light
Humidity: Regular household humidity is suitable. 
Fertilize: Feed your plant every 2 weeks with a diluted liquid fertliser in spring and summer and once every two months during the cooler months.
