On June 26, 2023, in celebration of the 26th anniversary of the birth of Digimon, we announced the 'Digital Monster COLOR' and 'Digital Monster COLOR Ver.2,' which are renewals of the LCD toys 'Digital Monster' and 'Digital Monster Ver.2,' on the official Digimon website 'Digimon Web.' Through the 'Vote for the Color Together Project!' conducted with fan votes, we have decided to release the two most popular body colors for each 'Digital Monster COLOR' and 'Digital Monster COLOR Ver.2.'

The body colors are 'Original Clear' from 'Digital Monster' and 'Original Smoke' from 'Digital Monster Ver.2,' both of which will be reissued for the first time. 'Original Clear,' based on an overseas color variation of 'Digital Monster,' was selected as it was unreleased in Japan, and 'Original Smoke,' a nostalgic color variation that was newly released in Japan during the 'Digital Monster Ver.2' era, was also chosen.

The appearance of the body is designed based on the shape of the original version released in 1997, just like the already released 'Digital Monster COLOR' and 'Digital Monster COLOR Ver.2,' and it incorporates color LCD and a built-in rechargeable battery without compromising on the size. The color LCD allows not only the characters to be in color but also enables changing the background design, which was not possible at that time. Through communication with different versions, including 'Digital Monster COLOR Ver.3,' 'Digital Monster COLOR Ver.4,' and 'Digital Monster COLOR Ver.5,' you can also obtain new background images. Furthermore, with the built-in rechargeable battery, you can play by charging it with the included USB Type-C charging cable. (Note: Charging requires a USB port, such as a computer.)

The appearing Digimon are distributed based on the lineup at the time of the 1997 release, categorized by version. The 'Digital Monster COLOR' includes a total of 18 Digimon, such as Agumon, Tyrannomon, and MetalGreymon, while the 'Digital Monster COLOR Ver.2' includes a total of 18 Digimon, including Gabumon, Garurumon, and SkullGreymon. All the Digimon can be evolved to Ultimate level, and in this product, even Monzaemon and Vademon, who couldn't evolve to Ultimate in the first-generation Digital Monster, can evolve to their Ultimate forms as Shin Monzaemon and Ebemon. Some Digimon can also combine through communication. (Note: The Digimon that combine after fusion will appear in common combinations across all versions: 'Digital Monster COLOR' & 'Digital Monster COLOR Ver.2.')

The development and battle scenes replicate the nostalgic features of the original 1997 versions, and the training functions introduced in 'Digital Monster' and 'Digital Monster Ver.2' are incorporated in each version. Additionally, a single-player battle mode is included, eliminating the need for communication. This product has enhanced user support compared to the 1997 version, and the growth speed has been improved. Moreover, there's a Cold Mode where growth stops, and hunger and strength do not decrease while in that state. The Backup System allows you to save one Digimon in development as a backup.
