The New Mid-Size Skycamp

2-3 person hardshell rooftop tent. The sweet spot between the Duo and Quad.

The iKamper Skycamp 4.0 Trio is the brand new mid-size addition to the Skycamp lineup, filling the gap between the compact Duo and the full-size Quad. Built for 2-3 people, the Trio provides more sleeping area than the Duo while keeping a balanced footprint that fits wagons, mid-size SUVs, full-size trucks, and compact SUVs. This is the size that overlanders have been asking iKamper for: enough room for a couple with extra space, or a small family with a child, without the width and weight of a 4-person tent. Pop it open in 60 seconds, sleep on a real mattress above your vehicle, close it in the morning, and drive.

Sets Up in Seconds

Unlatch the shell, push it open, and the gas struts do the rest. Your tent is fully deployed and ready to sleep in before you finish unpacking your cooler. No poles to thread. No rainfly to wrestle. No guy lines to stake. When it is time to leave, pull it closed, latch it, and drive. The Skycamp's simple fold-out design makes setup fast and intuitive, so you can spend less time wrestling with camp and more time enjoying it.

Sleep Like You Are at Home

The Skycamp 4.0 Trio ships with a foam mattress (9.3 lbs) that stays inside the tent when you close it. No inflating, no rolling, no stuffing it into a bag every morning. An optional RTT Comfort LT mattress (12.8 lbs) is also available for upgraded support with a 3-inch open-cell foam and air combination. The mattress sits on iKamper's ThermaSeal floor system: durable, insulating honeycomb aluminum panels with a layer of cork on top for warmth and sound dampening. Leave your sleeping bags and pillows inside when you pack up.

Premium Materials That Perform

Built with breathable, waterproof BreathWeave canvas (320gsm poly-cotton, recycled poly 35% / cotton 65% blackout canvas), a fiber-reinforced DuraCore shell, and cork-topped ThermaSeal flooring for comfort, protection, and all-season performance. The rainfly uses waterproof 90gsm recycled polyester 75D Rip-Stop with weather resistant DWR coating. Every material was chosen for durability in real-world conditions, not just marketing specs.

Field-Tested Across Every Terrain

iKamper conducted over 2,175 miles (3,500 km) of driving tests across various environments, including highways and unpaved roads, during the development of the Skycamp Series. Skycamps have since been part of countless customer journeys around the world, proving their reliability across deserts, mountains, forests, and coastlines. The 4.0 is not a concept. It is a tent refined through thousands of real miles on real rigs in real conditions.

Steady in Every Storm

The Skycamp 4.0 was tested against winds up to 35 mph (48 km/h) from all directions. The results confirmed that the tent and its components stayed secure, with no issues in stability or structure. Rigorous water spray tests showed no leaks, ensuring the tent remains watertight even under intense conditions. The DuraCore double-layered FRP shell handles rain, wind, UV exposure, and temperature extremes. The HVAC pass-through lets you run a heater duct into the tent without cracking a window.

What Changed in the Skycamp 4.0

The 4.0 is not a minor refresh. iKamper redesigned the shell profile, upgraded the materials, and added features that previously only existed on their premium DLX model. The Trio itself is entirely new, a size that did not exist in the 3.0 lineup.

New Trio Size: The 3.0 came in one size (4-person) plus the Mini (2-person). The 4.0 splits into three dedicated sizes: Duo (1-2), Trio (2-3), and Quad (3-4). The Trio fills the gap for overlanders who found the Mini too small and the standard 3.0 too large for their vehicle or needs.

DuraCore FRP Shell: Double-layered fiber-reinforced plastic that resists cracking, warping, and UV exposure. The dual layers create built-in air insulation, making it quieter and more condensation resistant than single-layer shells.

BreathWeave Canvas: 320gsm poly-cotton (recycled poly 35% / cotton 65%) blackout canvas. Manages moisture through breathability rather than heavy waterproof coatings. Better airflow, lower condensation risk, and four-season protection.

ThermaSeal Cork Floor: Durable, insulating honeycomb aluminum panels with a layer of cork. Previously a DLX-only feature, now standard on every 4.0.

Integrated LED Lighting: Dimmable White, Amber, and Red modes (DC 5V). Red mode preserves night vision at camp.

Power and HVAC Pass-throughs: Purpose-built ports for running a heater duct or electrical cable into the tent without leaving a window cracked open.

Larger Doors and Windows: Bigger openings than previous generations for better airflow, easier entry and exit, and more natural light.

Vehicle Compatibility

The Trio is designed for wagons, mid-size SUVs, full-size trucks, and compact SUVs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rack do I need for the Skycamp 4.0 Trio?

You need crossbars or a rack with a minimum dynamic load rating of 155 lbs and crossbar spacing between 24" and 49" apart. The Trio uses iKamper's Mounting Brackets 3.0, a universal mounting system that fits most crossbars from Prinsu, Front Runner, Thule, Yakima, Rhino-Rack, and others. If you do not have a rack yet, call us and we will help you pair the right rack with this tent for your vehicle.

Can I leave my bedding inside when the tent is closed?

Yes. The Skycamp 4.0 is designed with space to store sleeping bags and pillows inside when closed. The refined shell design allows for significantly more bedding storage than previous generations. Push your bedding toward the hinge side before closing. The optional air mattress fully deflates for even more storage room.

What is the difference between the Trio and the old Skycamp 3.0?

The 3.0 came in one size (4-person). The Trio is a dedicated 2-3 person tent that did not exist before. Key upgrades include the DuraCore double-layer shell, BreathWeave 320gsm blackout canvas, ThermaSeal cork floor, integrated LED lighting (White/Amber/Red), power and HVAC pass-throughs, and larger doors and windows. The Trio is narrower than the 3.0, making it fit mid-size vehicles that the 3.0 could not accommodate without hanging over the edges of the rack.

Is the Skycamp 4.0 Trio good for winter camping?

Yes. The Skycamp 4.0 Trio is rated for 4-season use with protection from rain, wind, and UV exposure. The DuraCore double-layer shell provides built-in air insulation. The ThermaSeal cork floor insulates against cold from below. The BreathWeave canvas manages condensation while staying waterproof. The HVAC pass-through lets you run a heater duct into the tent without cracking a window. For serious cold weather camping, pair with a quality sleeping bag rated for your expected low temperatures.

“My heart bows to you and you only, Huntress.”
Format: Kindle
3.5 🌟 This book popped up in my KU recommended reading suggestions and the synopsis sounded like what I was in the mood for. I'm so glad I took a chance on it. I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about it and ended up really liking it. I love when this happens. The main characters are likeable and I easily found myself rooting for them. There is a mystery element to each of their backstories that I enjoyed watching unfold and can't wait to get more of. Wolf, in particular, has me fixated. Love him. I found this to be an entertaining, addictive read with a plot that moves along at a good pace. It reads so easily I found myself very reluctant to put it down. Lots of twists and turns and the angst is there. A good set up for the next book to come, for sure. My issues with this book....the dialogue feels a bit juvenile at times and there is a repetitive over use of a particular word phrasing that I found myself giving the ole eye-roll to. There are, without a doubt, some pretty cliche moments that gave me a bit of the cringe. I think this could've certainly 100% benefited from more depth regarding the world building. Perhaps the world building was sacrificed to keep the pacing quick? Just a guess. Also, the lack of consistency of character for the FMC was really evident and so she feels quite illogical at times. Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable read that hit the spot well enough for me. That ending certainly has me impatiently pining for book 2!

Interesting take on the genre
Format: Kindle
True rating: 3.25 ⭐️ I enjoyed the fresh take on the genre. The best way I could describe the setting and world is an apocalyptic dystopian version of Farie where vampires, fae, and angles struggle to survive in what is left of the world. It was definitely interesting throwing the academy/hunger games aspect into this world as well. Even though I guessed the final reveal early on in the book, I kept hoping I was wrong, and it would take a surprising turn. While the "plot twists" were a bit predictable to me, I still enjoyed the ride this book took me on. Another downfall for me was the plot holes in the world building... I.E. if society has fallen and the world is in the aftermath of war, how are there trains running around the world? Just to take young adults to the trials to get into the golden city? How is the train maintained, the tracks clear, etc? However, I did enjoy the FMC & MMC and thought they were fleshed out nicely. I also enjoyed the side characters but wish some were developed more like Ashalin (sp?). I do find myself rooting for the MCs to succeed and find happiness together, which is obviously an important aspect for romantasy. Overall, was this an earth-shattering, mind-bending, terrific piece of literature? No. But was it the worst thing I've read this year? Also, no. This book has, to me, the bones of a great read & just needs a bit more to push it from an alright book to a great book. Overall ratings: Plot- 3.5⭐️ World building 3⭐️ Spice 2.5 🌶🌶 Main characters 4 ⭐️ Supporting characters 3.5⭐️

great book
Format: Kindle
I am really excited to meet the author at the book retreat this month. I really enjoyed this world that she built and most of the female main character Huntress is so awesome. She goes through a lot in this book and the ending; wow! I wouldn't have even guessed. I highly recommend everyone to read this book. I have been so lucky this year that almost all the books I have read have been, so far, 5 out 5 stars.

Fallen for the Fallen Angel – A Guilty Pleasure Worth Every Page
Format: Kindle
There’s something deeply irresistible about a dark academia or trial-based setting, a brooding and arrogant fallen angel, and a fierce heroine with enough sass to go toe-to-toe with him. Wings So Wicked is exactly that kind of book—and I devoured it in just a couple of days. To be fair, the plot isn’t groundbreaking. If you’re looking for something fresh and innovative in terms of storyline, this might not be it. But if your reader heart beats faster at the mere mention of enemies-to-lovers, jealousy-fueled banter, magical trials, betrayals, and forbidden tension—you’ll feel right at home. It’s like catnip for those of us with this particular weakness. The chemistry between the leads could have used a slightly slower burn to make the tension sizzle longer, but I still found myself completely invested in their dynamic. There are moments and phrases that feel a bit cheesy or underdeveloped, but honestly? I didn’t care. The vibes were exactly what I wanted. This book isn’t trying to reinvent the genre—it’s here to give readers like me what we crave: high-stakes magical drama, angsty romance, and the thrill of watching a badass girl and her brooding counterpart clash and spark. If that sounds like your kind of story, Wings So Wicked will hit the mark. Here’s hoping Book 2 turns up the heat and keeps the magic alive.

my new favorite book
Format: Kindle
Ok so I never write reviews but this book was so good I felt the need to write this. Firstly your introduced to Huntyr you see her closed off hard core badass than towards the end you see the most subtle change and growth it’s amazing and the enemies to friends to lovers was just perfect, AND THE TWIST AT THE END GOT ME GOOD! You see one spicy scene the whole book but it doesn’t even MATTER BECAUSE THE BOOK WAS THAT GOOD. I’ve read 85 books in 2023-2024 so far and I’m pround to say this is my all time favorite. I’m so excited to read more of Emily Blackwoods books, this was my first time reading one of hers and I’m glad I did because HOLY!! Well done Emily well done
