The music genre known as Southern gospel is traditionally regarded as old-time gospel hymns and songs with a strong melody, coming in easy listening format and rendered in four part harmony. Over the past 20 years Indiana songwriters and entrepreneurs Bill & Gloria Gaither have broadened the interpretation of this genre to include two and three part harmonies and to encompass musical styles as varied as country, bluegrass, ragtime, pop, black gospel and even classical. In so doing - and particularly through their longstanding Homecoming series, they have succeeded in popularising this music form throughout the world, particularly in European countries such as Norway, the Netherlands and Ireland. Undoubtedly, some Homecoming projects work significantly better than others. I'd include among some of the better, indeed quite excellent, ones 'Church In The Wildwoods' (2005), the Israel recordings (also 2005) and the more recent Homecoming Picnic release, with its ambient campfire setting. Thankfully, the latest output in this famed series also fits nicely into such noteworthy category. Filmed in a mammoth tent set up in the grounds of the Billy Graham Library in North Carolina, it seeks to recapture the spirit of the old-time tent revivals of the early to mid 20th century, which were extremely common throughout the States. The set kicks off with a harmonious group vocal rendition of "Yes I Know", a Gaither favourite which features on several previous releases (popular songs often get repeated on later Gaither output). This is followed by a wonderfully lively rendering of "When The Saints Go Marching In", though to a slightly different tune (and including a delightful brass interlude). The Gaither Vocal Band feature next (present line up is Bill Gaither, Mark Lowry, Michael English and Guy Penrod). And so the show rolls on - song after beautiful song - and all masterfully delivered (there's no doubting that Homecoming vocalists truly are top-rate singers). Among the non-Homecoming guests appearing on this venture are The Oak Ridge Boys and The Imperials, while recurring Friends include The Hoppers, The Nelsons, David Phelps, Janet Pashal, Stephen Hill and Jeff & Sherri Easter. Two standout tracks in my opinion are the striking take of the old hymn "Take My Hand Precious Lord", with superb solo gospel vocals from Angela Primm, and The Isaacs' superfluous (as always) rendition of "I Believe In A Hill Called Mount Calvary" - all three of the Isaac siblings have terrific voices and each gets highlighted on this tune. The ministry of Billy Graham features prominently throughout the DVD, and we're also treated to interviews with Cliff Barrows, longtime music and programme director for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and George Beverly Shea, who regularly sang at Graham's crusades (now aged 101 and still quick-witted and in good voice!). A number of short spoken skits also crop up from time to time - inspirational moments beautifully written by Gloria Gaither and read out by various Homecoming artists. So far all very well and good. I do, however, have two quibbles with this product (as with various other Gaither DVDs). The first is that with a couple of tracks featured on the playlist, we only get to see 10 or 20 seconds worth before it's quickly faded out and we're offered a spoken piece instead. I find this really annoying, not least because the few brief moments we do hear sounded pretty good! (Must be pretty annoying for the artists too, to find that their only performances on the venture have been erased, not being considered worthy of full inclusion). The songs in question are "I'm So Glad", which features a further solo from Ms Primm, and "I Need Thee Every Hour", rendered acapella by The Nelsons. My other quibble is the actions of a few of the Homecoming team, who can be constantly seen looking to their far left or right to see if they're appearing on the video monitor, and if they are, immediately playing up to the camera with instant smiles or gestures of enthusiasm. It looks so false and somewhat cheapens the set as a whole. Thankfully most Homecoming Friends have become seasoned performers and act fairly naturally on camera. These defects notwithstanding, this is a truly powerful performance with many fine moments. Running at a full two hours, it makes for both a most entertaining, but also a genuinely worshipful viewing.

Life-saver for hands in pain
Size: 5.1 Ounce (Pack of 2)
This is my favorite hand cream. We're in PA and I keep a tube of this by the kitchen sink, in my bedroom, the bathroom, and in my car. I use it all the time and it saves my hands. I discovered it by chance at a store one time and I've tried many products (used to work in Healthcare so was constantly hand-washing). I like O'Keefe's Working Hands all right, and Gold Bond healing hand cream used to be my favorite, but this replaces both. It's so helpful for my 5 year old, too, whose hands get super dry and cracked if we don't keep up with this. It's great stuff. Ever since I discovered it, I haven't been able to find it in stores again. It's always out of stock, so I guess others have figured it out as well!

Holy Grail Moisturizer for Rosacea
Style: Restorative Protective Cream-3.3 Fl Oz
In seeing so many negative reviews I felt compelled to weigh in as this is my favorite moisturizer. I have very dry, menopausal skin. Additionally, I have rosacea which seems to have been a nice gift from said menopause (you can only laugh, right?). It's very common for those of us in our 50's to have a compromised skin barrier and when an issue like rosacea is present, even more so. Because of all this my skin is very intolerant to most moisturizers and nearly all actives (over the last few years I've had to discontinue my retinols and chemical exfoliators). While ingredients like ALA's, petrolatum, mineral oil, parafin/bees wax, and lanolin are well tolerated and known to be quite soothing, they don't hydrate very well as they are more occlusive than moisturizing. Enter this product. Magically, it does both! It's marketed as a protective cream, which again implies occlusive, but it penetrates like no other. Gone is the tight, dry feeling that persisted even when I had a heavy layer of product on my skin (my previous moisturizer was Eucerin Original Healing Cream -- which still has its uses -- because it was the only thing I could put on my skin outside of squalane oil during a flare).
Now, no topical can cure rosacea. However, the right product can calm the skin, repair the damaged lipid barrier, and improve its appearance. This moisturizer does just that and it's become my holy grail. Since starting this I've also added in the Cicalfate Serum which has only aided in repairing my skin. Another Avene product that works great for me is the XeraCalm Balm which helps with itching. I use all three of these daily and they've really helped fix the secondary issues that come with rosacea.
As for the complaints about it being greasy or too heavy. I can see this not working for people with normal or oily skin (or perhaps only in moderation). But my skin loves the heavier weight and because one of the ways I soothe a flare is to keep a tiny mister bottle on hand and repeatedly spray my face so I have to guard against the drying effects of evaporation. These products are so lipid heavy that I can wet my face all day long without worrying about that, though I do reapply throughout the day.
As for the watery consistency issue, I haven't had that problem but it does caution on the packaging not to expose the product to temperatures below 41 degrees F (5 C). I suspect that if it gets too cold either because of the weather or because of whatever warehouse it sat in during transit it will separate. Maybe open the package and before squeezing some out look to see if it has split and then shake it up/message the tube.
So, if you have skin like mine don't hesitate to try this product. I'm leaving this absurdly long review for my struggling brothers and sisters out there with rosacea in hopes that it provides some relief! Happy moisturizing, internet strangers. ;)

Possible solution to seperation
Style: Restorative Protective Cream-1.3 Fl Oz
I love this product so much, but, like everyone else the water HEAVILY separated. A lot of water just shot out immediately and as i've used the cream it has felt more and more thick bc of that, shaking the tube or not.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
I actually think the company could salvage this problem by upgrading packaging to a Cosmetic JAR and then customers could take a toothpick and stir if separation has occurred by the time of purchase. I hope to try this with my next tube, just toothpaste squeezed everything out into a nice cosmetic jar and stir the water back into the product. This is such a simple solution that could really solve the product waste.
This refreshes my skin, doesn't break me out, and is lovely. I break out so easily, and being middle aged my skin really requires a dense help with moisture. <3
