The Butterfly is a Harmonic Tremolo and Tonal Amusement Park with endless patterns for all you tone freaks and tweakaholics..

While most tremolos modulate the signal by rhythmically lowering and raising the volume, the Red Noise Butterfly utilizes a Low Pass Filter to achieve a warm and articulated tremolo sound, providing pliable tonality and flexibility.

Here are a few of its special features:

  • Manual Mode turns off the LFO and allows manual control of the low pass filter’s cutoff frequency.
  • Dry/Wet Signal Mixer allowing for parallel processing
  • Two EQ controls: Bass / Treble tilt + Mid Boost/Cut (only on the ‘Wet’ signal)
  • Tap tempo Foot switch

Controls:

VOL

Controls the overall output volume from the pedal.

Dry / Wet

The Butterfly splits in input signal in such a way that a “dry” signal can be mixed with the “wet” processed one.

All functions, knobs and switches on the pedal apply only to the “wet” signal except for the Vol Knob which controls the mixed output.

The “dry” signal is buffered.

B / T

The Bass and Treble knob accentuates lows while reducing highs and vice versa around a center frequency of 800Hz. When the knob is centered the response is flat.

 Mid

Mid Boost/Cut at center freq of  800Hz.

When the knob is centered the response is flat.

This control was designed to compensate and emphasize when lacking mids so it can amplify a lot… If you get distortion just take it down a notch.

Range

Determines the range in which the filter is functioning. Clockwise = higher in the frequency range. Counter clockwise = lower in the frequency range.

Soft / Hard

Sets two mods of operation with different Q and depth:

Soft - More subtle and shallow

Hard - More pronounced and choppy

LFO / Man.

Determines the modulation source:

LFO – The Butterfly modulates automatically and moves according with the chosen wave shape and speed. In

Manual – The Butterfly can be used as a low pass filter. Control the cutoff frequency using the Speed / Freq. knob.

*Please note that the range of the filter still depends on the position of the ‘Range’ and ‘Soft / Hard’ functions so be sure to set those controls to fit your filtering desires.

Sync Input

This is an external sync input connected to the Tap Tempo button. This allows the LFO to be synchronized to an external clock signal. The circuit provides protection against negative voltages and signals up to 18V or so

ON Footswitch

Turns the effect on and off. When in the ‘Off’ position the Butterfly is true bypass

Tap Footswitch

Tap while the pedal is on or off to set the desired speed.

Power 9V negative center

The Butterfly loves you, love it too, feed it clean 9V negative center and it will gladly and delightfully flap its shiny wings for all to see.

Getting started:

Turn the Blend knob all the way clockwise (maximum tremolo)

Switch the Soft / Hard toggle on “Hard“

Switch the LFO / Man. Toggle to “LFO”

Range, mid and T/B knobs at the center.

Set a comfy Volume.

Using the Speed / Freq. knob or Tap Footswitch, set a desired speed.

Play with the Range knob and get a feel of the filter range.

Play with the wave shapes to get acquainted with the different accents they provide

Cozy warm, overall a good slipper!
I ordered a size Medium and I normally wear a women's size 8 US / 39 EUR and they fit well. According to the box, a Medium in Acorn sizing is Women's 6.5 - 7.5, but I do think these run a little large which is why I went with the Medium vs. Large. The boot part fits well, not too snug or too loose, and it stays up if it has something to adhere to (like over pants), otherwise it would slide down my bare leg. I am super sensitive to scratchiness lol, so I keep the boot part over pants because it is a little scratchy to me. These slippers are nice and cozy, so they keep my feet / ankles warm. The footbed provides a nice cushion and the soles/suede guards are strong but without making you feel like you are wearing actual shoes / boots. I have noticed that the footbed does not have a lot of rebound so there are definitely impressions of my toes inside... which means no one else will want to wear them... haha! I've also noticed the seams seem prominent on the inside, I wish they were a less noticeable, but that is just one of my hangups. So, the only reason I am giving a 4 instead of 5 is the inside is not as soft as I'd like and the seam problem. Regardless, I wear these all the time at home (which is where most of us all are right now) and I am happy with them overall. Oh, and I got the Buffalo Check pattern and it's super cute and fun!

Soft, Warm and Cozy
I have no idea how these stay up, probably magic. I'm tall so it's challenging to find boot style slippers that are long enough. If support or thick soles aren't an issue, these are the best I've ever found! My ankles and calves have never BEEN so warm; these are my go-to's in the evening. They're easier to walk in with socks but, without, they're floppy and loose. I'd hesitate to size down because it's more the lack of structure in the foot, not length. They wash well (air dry); still soft, warm and cozy. Inserts could probably be added to help with support. I tried them because I found them at a fantastic sale price but I'm buying another pair now, for winter. I'm a slipper person and I definitely notice the quality of materials in Acorns, when I compare them with other slippers.

My year round footwear
Size: 6.5-7.5, Color: Sunset Cable Knit
I literally LIVE in these "slippers". Inside, summer, winter, outside when I can. I have hardwood floors, so even summertime, they protect my feet. They give me enough cush, but not like structured slippers that feel more like shoes. I go through about 2-3 a year, but well worth it.

Weird sizing
Size: 5-6, Color: Charcoal
Weird sizing/ fit! It says that they run large in length, so I got one group-size down (5-6). (The sizes are in ranges rather than specific individual shoe size numbers). I liked the concept of the suede reinforced toe & heel for longevity. My heel and toes cleared the length/width comfortably/well and the overall width was more than adequate, yet I found them to be rigid-stiff- tight (to the point of cutting off circulation) specifically in the toe. Ok, I knew that was a possibility BUT……while the toe area was tight the ankle and calf were HUGE and would not stay up unless I wore over pants, defeating the purpose of a slipper-sock. The inside cushioning was soft and comfortable. When I walked, my heel would slip out over the sued area, into the wool sock parentheses, making it awkward to walk. Returning…No point in changing sixes, as if I get a larger foot size, the tow may fit better, but the ankle will be beyond too big. Sigh. Unfortunate, as the concept is sound….the manufacturing/sizing is bizarre. BTW : I have normal width feet (not wide or narrow) and my ankles and calves are on the thinner side. The fit may be better suited to people with wider ankles/calves????

So cute
Size: 8-9, Color: Charcoal Faux Fur
These boot slippers are super cute and comfy warm. Fit true to size. Inside is real soft and warm. No, they do not offer support....they are slippers after all. The fur does not go all the way around the back. The back is just the woven sweater material but I imagine they would have zero stretch if the fur went all the way around. It may not be as cute without fur all the way but they probably wouldn't stay up if they didn't have the stretch material in the back so your only choice would be to let them slouch. I can pull them all the way up and they stay, I can do any degree of slouch and they stay so I see this feature as purely functional. Love the 2 tone with the suede around the toe and bottom but this is where my only complaint comes in is the sweater material right above the suede toe looks puffy so that part looks a little silly but otherwise they are absolutely adorable, comfy, warm and as functional as a pair of slippers can be. I wore them out in light rain and my feet stayed dry. The bottoms are like a rubberized fabric so they may soak through if you're in constant wet. Traction is surprisingly good even though it doesn't have a lot of tread. Overall i love them.
