Description

pedal thread size Unior Proprietary Pedal Thread Repair Insert 9/16" RightThe Right Pedal Thread Insert 1695. 3A is the rescue part for a stripped right hand pedal thread. The insert installs into a freshly reamed crank arm hole and accepts a standard right hand 9 16" 20 TPI pedal. After the thread locker cures, the crank takes the original right hand pedal at full working torque. The "right" designation matters: the right pedal threads in the standard clockwise direction, and the insert's inner thread is sized to match.

The Right Pedal Thread Insert 1695.3A is the rescue part for a stripped right-hand pedal thread. The insert installs into a freshly reamed crank arm hole and accepts a standard right-hand 9/16" × 20 TPI pedal. After the thread locker cures, the crank takes the original right-hand pedal at full working torque.

The "right" designation matters: the right pedal threads in the standard clockwise direction, and the insert's inner thread is sized to match. The Left Pedal Thread Insert handles the left-hand pedal thread (which is reverse-threaded by bicycle convention to prevent loosening under pedaling).

How the insert sits in the rescue workflow

The complete rescue:

  1. Ream the failed thread. The 1695.1AR Right Reaming Tap cuts the failed thread away and cuts a new thread pattern sized for this insert. Use the Handle for Pedal Taps 1695/4BI for leverage and alignment.

  2. Thread-lock the insert. Apply a strong thread locker (green or red typical) to the outer thread of the insert.

  3. Install the insert into the reamed hole. Hand-thread until flush with the crank face. Don't over-torque; the locker does the holding work.

  4. Cure. 24 hours typical for a strong cure. The pedal can be installed normally after curing.

Material and form

The insert is a solid steel sleeve; not a spring-coil thread insert. The solid form holds the thread profile under cyclic load better than a spring insert; pedals see hundreds of millions of force-cycles over a working lifespan, and the insert's job is to stay rigid through all of them.

The outer thread is sized to match the cut profile of the 1695.1AR reaming tap. The inner thread is the standard 9/16" × 20 TPI right-hand pedal thread, identical to a stock crank's pedal hole.

What's in the pack

10 inserts per pack. A working shop uses inserts on every Crank Saver service; stocking by the pack is the working-shop economics.

Built in Zreče, Slovenia

Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The 1695.3A is part of Unior's purpose-built pedal-thread-rescue system. The complete kit (taps, handle, inserts) is sold as the Crank Saver Kit for shops setting up the full workflow; individual components are stocked for shops re-supplying consumables.

Pro tip from our mechanics

The cure time on the thread locker is the most-skipped step in pedal-rescue jobs. A shop that installs the pedal "right away" because the customer is waiting often gets a callback for a loose insert two months later. A reliable pedal-rescue workflow includes the cure time on the schedule. Our workshop hand tools guide walks through the workflow and the rest of the workshop hand-tool layer: Workshop hand tools every bike shop needs →

Size: 28mm, Color: Red
worked for my dodge. light but needs to not be so strong as to brake the plastic. seems like it will keep the plastic in tact and not kill it. nice and bright green i can find it easy.

Perfect Fit 28mm Fuel Filter Socket
Size: 28mm, Color: Red
I bought the Felisbieti 28mm fuel filter socket for a vehicle maintenance project, and it worked perfectly. The fit is precise, gripping the fuel filter securely without slipping or rounding edges. The build feels sturdy and durable, with a solid metal finish that stands up to repeated use. It fits snugly on my ratchet and made removing and installing the filter much easier and faster than using adjustable tools. The only minor thing to note is that it’s specific to 28mm filters, so make sure it matches your vehicle. Overall, this socket is well-made, reliable, and a must-have for anyone doing DIY fuel filter work.

Perfect socket for the job
Size: 24mm, Color: Green, Size: 24mm, Color: Green
I purchased this 24mm socket specificaly to remove the oil filter housing on my Ram Promaster 2500 truck. Since there is limited space to get a standard socket in this area, this low profile socket was able to do the job without requiring me to loosen and push aside other components. I like that this socket is light weight, made of aluminum with large easy to read size eched into the body. the oil filter housing is made of plastic and does not require a beefy heavy steel socket. The walls on this socket are plenty thick as to cause me no concern about durability. To me, the green color is a nice touch as will be easy to spot in my socket set for the oil changes.

Perfect Tool for the Job – Compact, Durable, and Well-Made
Size: 32mm, Color: Green
I bought this 32mm oil filter socket specifically for my VW TDI, and it worked like a charm. The low-profile design is a lifesaver—there’s barely any clearance where the oil filter sits, and this tool fit in perfectly without me having to wrestle with it or remove other parts. The quality is excellent—it’s made from aerospace-grade aluminum, which means it’s both lightweight and solid. The anodized finish looks great and gives me confidence it won’t rust or degrade like some cheaper tools I’ve used in the past. The 6-point hex design grips the cap snugly and doesn’t round it off, even with decent torque applied using a standard 3/8" ratchet. I’ve already used it on a couple different vehicles (including a BMW and a Chevy) and it hasn’t slipped once. It’s a small tool, but it solves a big headache. For anyone doing their own oil changes—especially if you're dealing with tight engine bays—this socket is 100% worth it. Bonus points for the bright green color—it’s easy to find in the toolbox! Highly recommend.

Decent Quailty
Size: 28mm, Color: Red
Great for taking off the Cummins 6.7 fuel filter cap. 28MM nice color making it easy to spot should you drop it in the engine compartment. Appears to be made of a bit soft material. IMHO don't think it would take a lot of torque. But again it’s to remove a plastic fuel filter cover so you should not be applying a lot of force on it to begin with.
