Giro is interested in safety across their entire line of helmets. That’s why this Chronicle Helmet got MIPSed.
MIPS is short for Multi-Impact Protection System, and it allows for the helmet to rotate a bit on your noggin when your head impacts the ground. This reduces rotational friction, which can protect your head in those crashes where your body is rotating as you hit the ground.
It’s the base layer of a light, protective airy helmet, which has been simplified to bring the cost down and the benefits up.
Your head is padded by Coolmax-covered padding, which wicks away the sweat, keeping your brow dry. It is anchored in place by the Roc Loc 5 Fit System, which is adjustable, secure, and easily fine-tuned by one hand as you ride. The interior EPS foam is fused to a tough polycarbonate shell for both safety and durability.
The helmet comes with an adjustable visor. They call it POV Plus. It allows you to move it up or down depending on your needs. Up to stow your goggles (which are held in back by the molded shape of the rear), down to keep the sun out of your eyes.
