But what Ebb Tide lacked in disease resistance, Celestial Night® has in spades. Very rare in a purple variety, it displays resistance to the diseases that can plague rose growers and cause reduced flower production and shorter blooming periods. With Celestial Night®, you get an abundance of big, double ruffled blooms of deep plum-purple on a hardy, rounded plant. In fact, the roses are so full and vibrant, they can easily be seen from a distance. Its pleasing, subtle fragrance makes it an exceptional landscape rose. Also makes a superb addition to fresh arrangements. Celestial Night® flowers hold their vivid color until the blossom is completely mature. When flowers are completely mature they fall freely from the stem and when there is a breeze, they create a breathtaking "pathway to the heavens". Even after falling to the ground the petals will hold their bright color for another day or two! What Is a Tree Rose?

Unlike traditional shrub roses that grow from the base up, tree roses—also known as grafted standard roses—are specially cultivated by grafting a rose variety onto a sturdy, 2–3-foot tall trunk of rose rootstock. This horticultural technique allows favorite floribunda, grandiflora, hybrid tea, or even climbing rose varieties to take on an elegant tree-like form.
